Plugin 2.2.1 and the portal updates in this release — retire the plugins installed for one small job, put staging beside production, and run the portal from your phone

This note groups SiteSkite plugin 2.2.1 (10 October) with the portal updates published in the 10 October news. Update the plugin to 2.2.1 to open the new Site controls on each site.

Close the doors bots try first
  • Security switches in Site controls → Security. Each starts off, and turning one off puts the site back the way it was.
  • Hide the WordPress version from the site’s code.
  • Block user lookups, so bots can’t collect usernames. Author pages send visitors to the homepage.
  • Show one general message on a failed login.
  • Turn off the theme and plugin code editor inside wp-admin.
  • Stop other websites from showing the site inside a frame, while SiteSkite previews keep working.
  • Turn off XML-RPC. Leave it on when the site uses Jetpack or the WordPress mobile app.
The page visitors see, and the speed they get
  • Three designed maintenance pages beside the standard WordPress message, with your title, message, color, contact email, social links, and a live desktop and mobile preview.
  • A Coming soon page for sites that haven’t launched yet.
  • Clear every cache with one click. SiteSkite finds WP Rocket, LiteSpeed Cache, NitroPack, W3 Total Cache, the host’s server cache, or Redis and clears each one.
  • Performance shows the PageSpeed filmstrip — about ten frames of the page loading — inside a phone or browser frame.
Tracking and custom code, without another plugin
  • Add Google Analytics 4, Google Tag Manager, Meta Pixel, or Microsoft Clarity by pasting the ID. Admin visits can stay out of the stats.
  • SiteSkite points out when another plugin already adds tracking, so each visit is counted once.
  • Verify the site with Google Search Console, Bing, Pinterest, and Facebook.
  • Up to 20 named header, body, or footer snippets, each with its own on and off switch.
  • Add ?siteskite-safe=1 to a page address to load it without your custom code.
A lean database
  • Database cleanup counts old revisions, unsaved drafts, trash, spam comments, expired temporary data, and leftover data before you clean, then optimizes the tables in the same run.
  • Choose how many revisions WordPress keeps for each post and page.
  • Turn comments on or off for the whole site. Existing comments stay saved.
Staging beside production
  • + Add Staging → SiteSkite starts a staging site on the instant sandbox, with the SiteSkite plugin installed and linked to the same project, then offers a production backup restore.
  • Production and Staging switch from one pill at the top of the site.
  • A countdown ring shows how long the staging sandbox has left, visible from the Production tab too.
  • The plugins that keep a SiteSkite sandbox running stay protected from accidental deactivation.
Portal & dashboard

This note groups the SiteSkite plugin releases of 12–22 September (2.1.7, 2.1.8, and 2.2.0) with the portal updates published in the 4 October news.

Try the change before it touches the live site
  • Sandboxes start in an isolated Docker container in about 2 seconds, down from 45 seconds to a minute. The experiment stays in that container.
  • Open wp-admin inside the sandbox. Start a full WordPress site, or install one plugin when the question is smaller than that.
  • An Elementor add-on brings Elementor. A WooCommerce add-on brings WooCommerce. SiteSkite follows the requirement WordPress publishes, and a heuristic still recognizes the famous parent plugins when the author leaves it out.
  • From AI Site Studio, connect GitHub once. One click after that creates a new private repository under your account and pushes the generated site onto main.
  • DeepSeek V4.1 Flash, Gemini 3.8, and GPT-6 Astra are in the model list beside Claude and ChatGPT.
The right administrator, and a lock on your own login
  • Multi-admin Login As — from the SiteSkite portal, pick which WordPress administrator to enter as, and you land in wp-admin as that user. The default is still one click when you already know.
  • Safer one-click WP Admin login from the portal.
  • Turn on an authenticator app, and add a passkey, on the account that opens every client site.
Hear the work, at the pace you choose
  • Notifications are live. Monitor status, backups, and the rest of the activity show up while the job is running.
  • Set how often one site is checked, and set the default for the whole account — from 2 minutes to an hour. On the free plan it stays at 15 minutes.
  • The same monitor settings decide how long a site must stay down before an alert is sent.
The numbers a client already asks for
  • Performance on a connected site shows Google Core Web Vitals, with the opportunities that move them.
  • Connect Google Search Console and Google Analytics in Integrations. More than one Google account is supported, and each site can point at its own property.
  • Those connections can go into the report, so the monthly note already holds search and analytics.
MCP that can undo — plugin 2.2.0
  • Reversible writes return an undo token. Reverse the last operation for about 72 hours.
  • Logs & Roll Back tracks mutating actions into a change log, with session undo from the admin tab and from MCP.
  • Share a draft, pending, or private post through an expiring, noindex preview link.
  • Elementor tools for the page you already have: outline, clone, find and replace text, swap images, list widgets and templates, insert a block, and apply a template. They compose onto an existing page.

Connect the assistant you already use — 2.1.7 and 2.1.8
  • On the AI MCP Connect tab, choose Site MCP for this WordPress site or Platform MCP for the hosted SiteSkite connector. It defaults to Site MCP even when an API key is linked.
  • ChatGPT, Claude, and Cursor cards show a Connected badge when that app already has access. Settings layout is clearer.
  • Overall MCP performance and security improvements in 2.1.8.
  • ChatGPT can still discover the connector when a host blocks /.well-known/. Metadata is served under the SiteSkite REST route and advertised in the login challenge.
